"Colorful Facts"

South Korea permits complete freedom of religion. Buddhism has had a strong influence on Korean culture. Koreans enjoy martial arts such as judo and tae kwon do.

Location: Korea is made up of two separate states, South and North Korea, which lie on the Korean Peninsula. It extends south from northeastern China.

Capital: Seoul (South Korea).

Offical Language: Korean

Geography: Plains and mountains-most of the people by far live on the coastal plains or in river valleys.

Population: South Korea 51,835,110; North Korea 25,776,032 (Estimated 2020)

Foods: Rice and kimchi, a highly spiced mixture of Chinese cabbage, white radishes, and several other vegetables are popular dishes. Tea is a traditional drink.
