"Colorful Facts"

Some 60% of the population and 27% of land in the Netherlands is below sea level. The Dutch have found ways to extend their land through the dike system, a process called land reclamation. They are known for: clogs, windmills, tulips, bicycles, and liberal policies towards drugs, prostitution, homosexuality, and euthanasia.

Geography: Bordering the North Sea, between Belgium and Germany

Population: 17,280,397 (Estimated 2020)

Foods: The Netherlands is renowned for its varieties of cheese and chocolate. A famous Dutch sweet is zoute drop, salty liquorice and liquorice sweets. These sweet are small, black and look much like gums.
